Allocation and Registration of Bachelor's Theses

Bachelor’s theses are allocated via a centralized assignment system of the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences. From the beginning of the registration period, you can register for a bachelor’s thesis here and indicate your preferences for the individual chairs.

Requirements

We supervise empirical theses only. Prior experience in empirical research and knowledge of SPSS are required. We strongly recommend attending our lecture Market and Consumer Behavior Research and our seminars in the specialization area Market-Oriented Management.

Process and Topic Selection

Once you have been assigned to our chair, you will promptly receive an email asking you to indicate your preferred start date. At the beginning of the semester, there will be a topic presentation in which the research areas will be introduced in more detail. You will then be asked to indicate your preferences regarding the topic areas.

Subsequently, you will be assigned a supervisor. At the beginning of your thesis project, you can discuss fundamental issues with this person, such as refining your topic, in an initial meeting.

Please also note that supervision during the semester break is only possible in exceptional cases, as the chair may not be staffed continuously during this period.

Registration with the Examination Office and Duration

Your bachelor’s thesis must be registered with the Examination Office by no later than 15 January in the winter semester or 15 July in the summer semester. If you do not register with the Examination Office by this date, you must apply again for the following semester.

The processing period for a bachelor’s thesis begins with the registration of the topic at the Examination Office and is two months. As empirical theses may require more preparation time, you should contact the staff of our chair early on in order to plan an appropriate timeline.

Information Session

We strongly recommend attending the event Introduction to Academic Writing (Thesis Colloquium), which takes place at the beginning of the lecture period.
